Joao Mario is facing an uncertain future with Lokomotiv Moscow according to a report in today’s print edition of Tuttosport.

The Portuguese national team midfielder joined the Russian Premier League outfit this past Summer on a season long loan from Inter with the Russian capital city side obtaining an option to buy set at €18 million as part of the deal.

Prior to the global Coronavirus pandemic, Lokomotiv Moscow were convinced about buying him outright but now it is unclear what their intentions are.

The 27-year-old joined Inter back in the Summer of 2016 from Sporting CP as one of then new owners Suning’s first purchases.

Joao Mario however failed to live up to expectations at the club and has also spent time out on loan at Premier League side West Ham United.

This season the EURO 2016 winner has made 15 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored one goal and provided four assists for his teammates.
