Italian football journalist Fabrizio Biasin has claimed that Inter are calm regarding the future of Lautaro Martinez despite the continuous links he has drawn over a move to Spanish giants Barcelona.

“It is clear that there is a fairly persistent attempt by Barcelona to get to Lautaro. Inter are however extremely calm,”
Biasin remarked in an interview with Italian news outlet PassioneInter.com.

“Marotta and Ausilio are calm because they have the knife on the handle side. Either Barcelona pays his €111 million clause, which the Spanish club cannot afford at the moment, or they must find a formula that Inter likes.

“Inter have protected themselves and my feeling is that Barcelona will try to the end and therefore Lautaro can eventually leave Inter for Barcelona but it will not be easy. Lautaro will only leave Inter if the transfer is good for Inter.”

He was then asked about RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner and whether he is the ideal replacement for Lautaro, should the Argentine go on to leave Inter for Barcelona.

“I have no doubt that he can be the right player for Inter. He is a super player and he is only 24-years-old. Inter would be on the safe side if they brought him in. There is a lot of competition but if Inter were to sell Lautaro and focus on Werner, Inter would do a great thing.”

He then share his thoughts on Inter’s attack for next season which could potentially consist of one of Lautaro or Werner, Romelu Lukaku, Dries Mertens and Edinson Cavani.

“Such an attacking department would be extraordinary. Mertens and Cavani have important salaries. In particular, the first who would leave Naples for a mega salary.

“I like Mertens a lot, I believe that in the end he can stay there too but we will have to understand what De Laurentiis will do with him. Cavani can be part of the Icardi issue even if he earns a lot of money, the salary to come to Inter should be reduced.”

Biasin then went on to discuss Brescia midfielder Sandro Tonali, who has been heavily linked with moves to Inter and their arch rivals Juventus.

“Inter believe in Tonali. Last year the management focused heavily on Barella, the same speech this year applies to Tonali. There is a good chance of seeing him in the Nerazzurri.

“Cellino is an old fix and will wait it out before giving a definitive yes to any team because there is a lot of competition.”

In conclusion Biasin spoke on what the future could hold for each of Mauro Icardi, Radja Nainggolan and Ivan Perisic, all of whom were judged to be out of Inter’s project this past Summer and subsequently loaned out.

“None of the three will return to Milan and the Inter management will try and find new clubs for them. There is a concrete possibility that Inter could cash in on Icardi. With Marotta, Inter are well protected.

“Nainggolan could be used as an exchange pawn for someone like Fiorentina’s Chiesa as an example. A solution will also be found for Perisic, either with Bayern Munich or with another club but Inter will find a solution.”
