Inter coach Antonio Conte would like to sign two players on a free transfer to strengthen the attacking department, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri are expecting to lose two or three forwards in the summer and so need to sign replacements.

The first is Manchester United’s Alexis Sanchez, who will be returning to England after his loan spell in Milan ends. The second player is Italian talent Sebastiano Esposito, who is expected to go out on loan in order to develop further and earn more playing time, with the final player being Lautaro Martinez, who could be sold to Barcelona.

Conte would like to sign Belgian forward Dries Mertens, the report continues, after his contract expires with Napoli at the end of the season. Nerazzurri forward Romelu Lukaku could be key as he is good friends with the 33-year-old. Mertens wants a two-year contract worth €5 million a year, figures that Inter are happy to match.

The other goal of Conte is Edinson Cavani, the report adds. The Uruguayan forward’s contract will expire with Paris Saint Germain at the end of the season and currently a renewal seems unlikely.
