Manchester United are in pole position in the race to sign Inter target Sergej Milinkovic-Savic, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri have been interested in signing the 25-year-old Serbian midfielder, who is contracted to Lazio until 2024, for some time now, although a deal has never been particularly close.

The player is likely to leave the Biancocelesti in the summer but isn’t expected to stay in Italy, with Paris Saint Germain, Manchester United and Real Madrid all keen to sign him.

The Red Devils are ahead of the pack, the report continues, but Lazio president Claudio Lotito won’t accept less than €100 million for his star midfielder, whilst also preparing a new contract to convince him to stay in Rome.

Milinkovic-Savic has made 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2539 minutes. In that time, he has scored five goals and provided seven assists.
