Barcelona are incredibly keen to sign Inter star Lautaro Martinez but cannot afford to pay his €111 million release clause, according to a report from Spanish newspaper Sport.

The report details how the Blaugrana are incredibly keen to improve their team as much as possible in the summer and have identified both Lautaro and Brazilian star Neymar as their top transfer targets. The problem, however, is that they cannot even afford to pay Lautaro’s €111 million release clause, and the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic has only exacerbated the situation further.

Barcelona’s deficit could reach almost €100 million by the end of June, the report continues, and so the club can’t afford to pay too much for any particular player. In order to sign Lautaro, Barcelona are hoping to offer the Nerazzurri multiple players in order to convince them to give up on the 22-year-old striker, who has lit up Serie A this season under coach Antonio Conte.
