Paris Saint-Germain striker Edinson Cavani is waiting to see if there is any possibility of a contract extension with the club according to a report from Italian football journalist and transfer market expert Alfredo Pedulla.

Cavani’s contract with the recently crowned Ligue 1 champions is set to expire at the end of next month but their intentions for him are presently unclear, the report continues.

Inter are keeping a close eye on developments due to having developed an interest in bringing in Cavani on a free transfer if his deal with the French capital city club expires.

The report goes on to explain that whilst Inter have identified him as a target they have not identified him as a potential replacement for Lautaro Martinez, who continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona.

The Nerazzurri club’s favourite to replace Lautaro should he depart is in fact RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner, who has 27 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions this term.
