Inter have been in contact with Edinson Cavani’s representatives for a number of weeks according to Italian media outlet Calciomercato.com.

Inter consider Cavani to be an interesting possibility regardless of what happens with Lautaro Martinez, who continues to be linked with a potential Summer transfer window switch to Barcelona.

Antonio Conte has rated the Uruguayan national team striker for a long time and wanted him way back when he was in charge of Inter’s arch rivals Juventus.

Cavani is aware that at 33-years-old he is at the stage of his career where he will be able to command his last major contract and for the time being there are no proper negotiations with Inter, who are only probing the ground at the moment for him, as are several other clubs.

This season the former Napoli striker has made 22 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored seven goals and tallied three assists.
