Paris Saint-Germain have given up on trying to sign Napoli defender Kalidou Koulibaly to divert funds to sign Mauro Icardi from Inter instead, according to a report from the online edition of French news outlet Le Parisien.

Icardi joined them on a season long loan from Inter this past Summer and they have an option to sign him on a permanent basis for a sum of €70 million.

Whilst in the French capital city, Icardi has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 20 goals and tallied five assists for his teammates.

The report from Le Parisien goes on to add that both Thomas Meunier and Layvin Kurzawa will leave the club when their contracts expire at the end of next month.

The Belgian and Frenchman, who are both full backs, have both drawn links to Inter in recent weeks and months regarding potentially joining the Nerazzurri on a free transfer this Summer.
