KRC Genk and Canada national team sensation Jonathan David has admitted to being surprised by the interest of several top clubs in him this early on into his career.

The youngster has been in sensational form for the Belgian Pro League outfit this season and reportedly has interest in his services from the likes of Premier League club Arsenal, Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig and Inter among others.

“I never knew big clubs would be interested in me so early. It’s overwhelming, but I think I can make the next step,” he admitted in a video interview with British broadcaster Sky Sports.

“It’s time for me to move and go somewhere where I can keep developing and get to the potential that I have. The league that would suit me the most right now is the Bundesliga.

“It’s similar to the Belgian league in terms of the tempo and the physicality, but obviously the quality is higher in Germany and there is more competition.”

The attacking midfielder, who turned 20-years-old a few months back, is under contract with his current employers until the end of the 2022/23 season and KRC Genk’s sporting director Michel Louwagie has said they will not let him depart for anything less than €25 million.

This season David has made 40 appearances across all competitions to date. In 3260 minutes on the field, David has scored 23 goals and has provided a total of 10 assists for his teammates.
