Mauro Icardi has told Paris Saint Germain sporting director and former Inter manager Leonardo of his desire to stay in the French capital according to a report from the online edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

The 27-year-old Argentine is currently out on loan at the recently crowned Ligue 1 champions from Inter and Paris Saint Germain have an option to buy him outright by the end of this month for a sum of €70 million.

Inter management are hopeful that Paris Saint Germain will take up the option to sign the former Sampdoria player, who has performed well whilst in the French capital city.

Icardi has made 30 appearances across all competitions to date this season, in which he has scored 20 goals and has provided five assists for his teammates.

Icardi joined Inter in the Summer of 2013 from Sampdoria and has since made 219 appearances for the club, in which he has scored 124 goals.
