RB Leipzig striker Yussuf Poulsen has shared his hope that teammate Timo Werner will remain with the club amid intense speculation in the media in relation to his future.

The highly rated 24-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a move to Champions League holders Liverpool for some time now and Inter have also reportedly identified him as a potential replacement for Lautaro Martinez, who continues to be linked with a possible Summer transfer window switch to Barcelona.

“It’s not about me and it’s not a club’s decision. It’s his decision. If you ask him, you will get a better answer,” Poulsen remarked in an interview with Stats Perform News, as reported by FCInterNews.it.

“I can only say that I hope he will stay so we can keep scoring goals together next season. If that’s not the case, then we have to accept. I would still wish him all the best for his future.

“Of course, he is an important player for the team – not only as a player but as a personality as well. He really fits in.

“That’s why we can only hope that he stays, but we are not the decision makers here. He for himself has to figure out what he wants.”

Werner has a variable release clause in his contract with Energy drink Red Bull backed RB Leipzig. If RB Leipzig win the Bundesliga it will be €60 million but if they fail to do so his release clause will be €50 million instead.

Werner, who has been one of the most prolific goalscorers in recent seasons, has starred once again this season with him having scored 27 goals in 37 appearances across all competitions to date.
