Premier League side Chelsea are interested in signing Inter owned striker Mauro Icardi, should talks between the Nerazzurri and Paris Saint-Germain break down, according to a report from English tabloid The Sun earlier today.

The report details how talks between Inter and PSG are still ongoing regarding the 27-year-old Argentine striker, who impressed this season whilst on loan with the French giants. The Parisians offered Inter €50 million plus €10 million in difficult to achieve add-ons, not an offer the Nerazzurri were hoping for, and one which they promptly rejected.

Chelsea are closely following the situation, the report continues, and are ready to enter negotiations if there is an opening. In February reports in England suggested that the Blues were interested in Icardi, although they won’t be able to sign him should talks between PSG and the Nerazzurri prove productive.

Icardi has made 31 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 1958 minutes. In that time, he has scored 20 goals and provided four assists.
