Paris Saint Germain have submitted a first offer for Inter owned striker Mauro Icardi but it falls €20 million short of the agreed upon figure, according to a report from Italian news outlet GianlucaDiMarzio.com earlier today.
The report details how the Parisian club are keen to keep the 27-year-old Argentine striker in the French capital but cannot afford to pay his €70 million release clause due to the current financial climate, which has been heavily affected by the ongoing Coronavirus pandemic.
PSG have offered Inter €50 million plus €10 million in difficult to achieve bonuses, a low offer for a player that the Nerazzurri weren’t planning on giving any discounts on. The Nerazzurri have not accepted the offer.
Last summer, the two clubs reached an agreement of €70 million, the report continues, and so the offer is essentially €20 million less, considering how difficult it would be to satisfy all of the additional clauses to earn the €10 million bonus. Inter are prepared to lower the price a little for Icardi considering the Coronavirus pandemic, but need a higher offer.
