Edinson Cavani may not be the best route for Inter to go down to replace Lautaro Martinez, should he depart the club in the coming months, a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Libero warns.

Lautaro has drawn continuous links over a move to Barcelona and talks between Inter and Barcelona over him are ongoing.

Should he depart Inter will obviously have to go out and find a replacement for him and the Nerazzurri are seemingly very keen on bringing in Cavani, whose contract with Paris Saint-Germain is due to expire at the end of next month.

The report from Libero goes on to state that Cavani is more similar to Romelu Lukaku than he is to Lautaro and there are several doubts about him.

Cavani has just turned 33-years-old, which has led to doubts being cast over whether he is past his best or not. He has struggled for game time this season due to injury and missed no less than 17 games and his scoring rate has also slowed down with him only managing to net seven goals this term.
