Pirelli vice president Marco Tronchetti Provera has revealed that a link will remain between the tyre company and Inter in the future but has admitted to being unsure quite what that will be.

Pirelli have been Inter’s main shirt sponsor for over 20 years now and their logo is almost synonymous with Inter’s jerseys but the sponsorship agreement is due to expire at the end of next season and reports have suggested Inter are looking to get a new main shirt sponsor.

“A link between Pirelli and Inter will remain. We will see what that will be,” he remarked in an interview with the online edition of Milan based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Tronchetti Provera then went on to speak about current Inter manager Antonio Conte and some of the players who have been linked with potential Summer transfers to the club.

“Conte has extraordinary skills, we have left a certain world and we don’t know what the new one will be like. For example, we left Inter with a director who was to change the team, Eriksen.

“Cavani knows how to do extraordinary things and Cristiano Ronaldo shows that even at a certain age you can still make a difference.

“It is clear that the sale of Lautaro would be painful but with Cavani and Werner we could be stronger than with Lautaro and Icardi, especially if Eriksen returns to the level he was at at Tottenham.”

Next he shared his opinion on Inter and AC Milan’s new stadium project which will see San Siro almost entirely demolished.

“There is a great emotional bond for San Siro that has created many emotions but I understand the interests of the clubs.”

In conclusion he paid tribute to former Inter manager Luigi ‘Gigi’ Simoni, who recently passed away.

“He was gentleman who passed through Inter during a moment of transformation, Ronaldo had just arrived and Inter won a UEFA Cup.”
