Liverpool are the club currently closest to signing RB Leipzig striker Timo Werner according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

The Premier League club are looking to bolster their already strong attack with the acquisition of the 24-year-old, who has scored goals for fun during his years with RB Leipzig.

Liverpool are prepared to pay his €50 million release clause, which can be triggered up until the middle of June and seem to have a clear path to him at the moment.

Inter have also shown a keen interest in signing the German national team forward but their move is dependent on Lautaro Martinez, who continues to be linked with a move to Barcelona, departing.

Ths season Werner has made 39 appearances across all competitions to date. In just shy of 3100 minutes on the park, he has scored a total of 30 goals and also provided 12 assists for his teammates.
