Barcelona do not have the financial power to pay Inter striker Lautaro Martinez’s €111 million release clause according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The La Liga giants have been courting the highly rated 22-year-old for some time and have held negotiations with Inter over him but the offers made have fallen some way short of what Inter are demanding.

Inter want the Argentine national team striker’s release clause paid or failing that a player or players plus cash deal with a cash sum in the region of €80-90 million and one of the players must be Junior Firpo.

Barcelona’s best offer to date consisted of a cash sum between €50-60 million plus two players but Inter management quickly knocked back this offer.

This season Lautaro has made 31 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 16 goals and provided a total of four assists.
