Inter have pulled out of the race to sign RB Leipzig’s Timo Werner and now only Liverpool remain in the running to sign him according to a report from Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb.

The 24-year-old German national team player has been heavily linked with a potential Summer transfer window switch to Inter to replace Lautaro Martinez if he leaves but Inter sporting director Piero Ausilio has today confirmed that Werner will not be coming to the club.

The report goes on to explain that Liverpool have identified him as a target as they look to find a viable alternative to their current three forwards, Mo Salah, Sadio Mane and Roberto Firmino.

Werner has a release clause in his current contract with RB Leipzig, the value of which will be determined by whether or not RB Leipzig win the Bundesliga. It will be €60 million if they win it or €50 million if they do not but Liverpool deem either amount to be too much, especially in the current situation.
