Inter are focusing on keeping Argentine striker Lautaro Martinez rather than looking to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Edinson Cavani, according to a report from today’s paper edition of the Turin based newspaper Tuttosport.

The report details how the Nerazzurri would only look to sign the Uruguayan striker on a free transfer in the summer should the 22-year-old Lautaro be sold to Barcelona. Cavani wants around €7-7.5 million a season to play, which would make him one of the better paid players in the squad, and so it’s impossible to imagine the Nerazzurri signing the player whilst Lautaro remains with the club.

Inter director Piero Ausilio confirmed yesterday that the club would only accept €111 million for Lautaro, the report continues, the player’s release clause. Considering that Barcelona have appeared unable to pay this figure, the Milanese club are hoping to keep the 22-year-old for the foreseeable future. Lautaro has scored 16 goals and provided four assists across 31 appearances this season.
