Valentino Lazaro’s future is hanging in the balance according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Tuttosport.

The Austrian national team defender joined Newcastle United on loan with an option to buy from Inter back in the most recent January transfer window but it as yet unclear whether the Premier League side intend to take up their €22 million option to buy.

The report from the Turin based news outlet goes on to add that Inter have their fingers crossed that the Magpies do take up the option as it will allow them to re-coup their investment on the 24-year-old, who they bought from Bundesliga outfit Hertha Berlin just last Summer.

The former RB Salzburg player has made 16 appearances across all competitions to date. In his time on the field, which totals just over 800 minutes on the park, he has contributed a single goal and provided two assists for his teammates.
