Jan Vertonghen is weighing up his future as his Tottenham Hotspur contract edges closer to expiration according to a report from the online edition of British broadcaster Sky Sports.

The Belgian national team defender’s deal with Spurs is due to expire at the end of this month and Spurs are understood to have asked him if he would be willing to temporarily extend his deal for the remainder of the Premier League season, which is due to resume just shortly.

The report goes on to explain that Vertonghen is weighing up the risks and possible implications on his future amid interest in his services from Inter, Napoli and a number of Spanish clubs too.

It also states that at 33-years-old, the former Ajax defender is looking for what will likely be his last big contract of his playing career.

This season Vertonghen has made 26 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored two goals and provided one assist.
