Paris Saint-Germain have reached an agreement with striker Edinson Cavani to extend his contract until the end of the season according to a report from French broadcaster RMC Sport, which was aired a short time ago.

The Uruguayan national team striker’s contract with the French champions is set to expire at the end of this month and this report claims that Paris Saint-Germain are close to coming to an agreement to extend his deal until August 31.

Paris Saint-Germain sporting director Leonardo has already confirmed that Cavani will leave the club but the reason behind wanting to sign him to a short term extension is because Paris Saint-Germain want to keep the current team together for the remainder of the Champions League, which will be contested in August.

Cavani has drawn links with a whole array of clubs due to his expiring contract status including Inter and Newcastle United but all interested clubs look set to have to wait until the end of August before being able to try and sign him.
