Conte’s Inter continued their season long quest to prove that football is indeed a game of two halves. In the first half, it was Sampdoria’s boys against Inter’s men. Ranieri’s men were left chasing shadows from start till just about the halftime whistle.

But in typical Inter fashion, Sampdoria were let back into the game with their first shot on target and the performance turned wobbly to say the least. This time however Inter held their nerves to bring home 3 important points.

Samir Handanovic –  6: Another one of those nights for Samir where he could bring out his favorite book. Sampdoria didn’t attack in the first half. Tried his best on the goal.

Milan Skriniar –  6.5: Not much work to do defensively but Skriniar used that time to attack. Even setup a brilliant chance for Lukaku. Looked tired towards the end.

Stefan de Vrij –  6: Ranieri clearly instructed his forwards to mark De Vrij, however Stefan still found a way to get involved and give the usual consistent performance.

Alessandro Bastoni – 6.5: Makes coming out of the back look so natural, so easy on the eye. Always looking for a smart interception or a pass. Always involved in the buildup.

Antonio Candreva – 6: Much better performance. The awareness on the Lautaro goal was the exact position he took a shot last weekend in Naples. Decent outing.

Nicolo Barella –  6.5: With his usual partner in crime injured, Barella was tasked with leading from the center circle and he didn’t disappoint in both phases of play.

Roberto Gagliardini – 5.5: Looked rusty. Made a couple of mistakes, but the biggest one was at the end of the first half. Didn’t cost much but still not near his best clearly.

Ashley Young – 6: Consistency is the key, always used the Bastoni overlap well and kept his position defensively. Did well going forward but his team didn’t find him.

Christian Eriksen – 6.5: The Dane continues his purple run, played like an old era number 10. Flashy, meaningful touches of the ball. Went missing in the second half though.

Romelu Lukaku – 7: Slowly getting his rhythm back.Played a huge part in the Lautaro goal as well. Always comes deep to help the midfield out as well. More goals to come.

Lautaro Martinez – 7: Finally scored after a long dry spell either side of the forced stop. Looked lively from the first minute and this performance would please Interisti.

Victor Moses – 5.5: Victor’s performances are all the same. Comes on during the second half has a chance that he shoots over and his crosses are mostly not accurate.

Cristiano Biraghi – 5.5: Cristiano didn’t have much impact on the game at all. The team struggled to break Sampdoria down in his 20 minutes on the pitch.

Borja Valero – 6: Got straight into it from the moment he entered and gave his 100%.Took a booking for the team but his substitution was about giving Eriksen a break.

Alexis Sanchez – N/A: Brings the impact as usual. Ran down the clock very well and showed his experience again. Conte needs to give him more minutes in the next game.

Antonio Conte –  5: Another fantastic first half performance by the team and this time they got 2 goals ahead. The second half was poor as usual and the subs were late.

Maurizio Mariani –  6.5: Apart from being too lenient on Gaston’s fouls there wasn’t much wrong in the refereeing performance tonight. Not many difficult decisions to make.

Inter – 5.5: The second half blues are not because the players have been locked in for 3 months, this was an issue earlier as well. Three important points won.
