Inter chief executive Giuseppe ‘Beppe’ Marotta has insisted that Inter are not in a position where they need to sell players such as Lautaro Martinez.

The highly rated 22-year-old striker has been heavily linked with a potential move to the reigning La Liga champions ahead of the upcoming transfer window.

Various reports in the media have stated that Inter are standing firm with their demands for the Argentine, who has a €111 million release clause in his contract.

“As far as Lautaro is concerned, we have been clear, Inter is a noble club that does not intend to sell their best players,” he explained in an interview with sports broadcaster DAZN moments ago.

“The same rule applies in Lautaro’s case. If he does not express a desire to leave, which he has not done, there are no conditions for him to move to another club.”

He was then asked how talks with Manchester United and Chelsea regarding extending the loans of Alexis Sanchez and Victor Moses are going.

Both players loan deals with the club are set to expire at the end of this month and former Juventus executive Marotta has shared his hopes to see world football’s governing body FIFA introduce global regulations with regard to loan extensions.

“We wanted to bring this season to an end. We know there could be more injuries and there are some anomalous situations in legal terms, such as loans, that should be regulated and there are clubs who do not entirely agree.

“Specifically we have Chelsea and Manchester United players on loan and we are faced with having to engage in effectively extra transfer negotiations.

“There ought to be a rule giving players the right to complete the tournaments they started.

“I hope FIFA or other authorities will soon take action to regulate this issue.”
