Inter manager Antonio Conte has insisted that he and the team must pay more attention to detail following on from a frustrating 3-3 draw at home to Sassuolo tonight.

Inter fell behind after just a few minutes and pulled one back from the penalty spot five minutes before half time via Romelu Lukaku, who netted his 25th goal across all competitions this term.

Cristiano Biraghi soon followed with a goal of his own and Inter went into the half time interval leading 2-1. Despite plenty chances to put the game out of sight, it was Sassuolo who scored next with 10 minutes left.

Inter scored with five minutes to go and looked set to go on to win but moments later conceded and had to settle for a draw.

“We are work on getting the teams in the right frame of mind, both on the field and mentally. Ours must be a complete job, not only on a technical-tactical level, but by raising attention, concentration, hunger and anger,” Conte explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV following the match.

“The guys want to improve and they want to be careful, however, there are games like tonight where there is a lot of bitterness. Many times the work we do is not compensated by the result.”

Next he spoke on Sassuolo’s performance at San Siro.

“We are talking about a team that has a certain idea about how football should be played and excellent attacking players.

“People like Boga, Caputo, Berardi, Djuricic and Defrel are very good at attacking spaces and hurting you. It was a difficult match against a very good team but we had laid the foundations to win and we had to do it. There must be disappointment in our hearts.”

Conte then went on to praise youngster Lucien Agoume, who came on as a substitute during the second half.

“Lucien is a good boy, he has good skills. It is not easy to come in and do what he did. I am happy with his performance, he must continue to work and grow. He has a good base and teammates to learn from.”

In conclusion Conte added: “Beyond the standings, our idea is to always think to the maximum. We have to think about winning all the matches, although it may not happen for many reasons.

“The mentality must be to try to do the maximum, something extraordinary. We must be careful and pay more attention to detail, perhaps not conceding three goals.”
