Inter Primavera and their Rennes counterpart will face off in a one off tie in the UEFA Youth League round of 16 in mid-August, tournament organisers and European football’s governing body UEFA have confirmed.

Inter Primavera and Rennes were due to face off a few months ago but due to the outbreak of the Coronavirus pandemic, Inter refused to play and should have been disqualified as a result.

Following an agreement between the two clubs however and in spirit of what the UEFA Youth League is all about, they will face off against one another on August 16.

The winner of the tie will face either Juventus or Real Madrid in the quarter finals of the tournament. Should Inter beat Rennes and then beat either Juventus or Real Madrid they will face either RB Salzburg or Lyon in the semi finals.

Dinamo Zagreb, Benfica, FC Midtjylland and Ajax are all potential opponents they could face in the final.
