Atletico Madrid have pulled out of the race to sign Edinson Cavani according to a report from the online edition of Spanish news outlet AS.

Club bosses have decided to give up in their pursuit of the soon to be free agent after not wanting to pay the Uruguayan national team forward as much as he is demanding.

The club currently in pole position to land the current Paris Saint-Germain player is Roma, who have offered him a three year contract with a generous salary that would make him the highest paid player in their squad.

Inter also have an interest in signing the 33-year-old but the interest from the Giallorossi club is stronger than that of the Nerazzurri.

This season the former Napoli striker, who has spent the past seven years with Paris Saint-Germain, has made 22 appearances across all competitions. In his time on the park, Cavani scored seven goals and provided three assists for his teammates.
