Former Inter central midfielder Hernanes has shared his belief that his brief spell with the club went well despite initial struggles following his arrival at the club.

The Brazilian, who is currently playing for Campeonato Brasileiro Série A side Sao Paulo, joined Inter in January 2014 from fellow Serie A side Lazio and spent the next 18 months with the club before departing for Inter’s arch rivals Juventus.

“I am sincere, I have never felt any disappointment. In my opinion, it went well with Inter, so much so that I was bought by Juve, otherwise such a club would not have looked at me,” he explained in an interview with Italian newspaper Corriere dello Sport, which appeared in yesterday’s print edition.

“At the beginning I struggled a bit, but after Mancini’s arrival I unlocked myself, playing as a playmaker I did done really well in the last five months.”

Hernanes proceeded to discuss the race for the Serie A title and named the team who he believes are the favourites to be crowned champions of Italy.

“Juve are the favourites because of the quality of the squad and their winning mentality.”

Next he went on to share who he is rooting for in the race for the title.

“If Lazio were to win, it would be really nice for the whole league, given that Juventus have already won the Scudetto eight times in a row. Lazio have not won the league since 2000 so it would be very nice to win.”

During his stay with the Nerazzurri, Hernanes made a total of 52 appearances across all competitions. In his time on the park, he scored seven goals and also provided his teammates with 10 assists.
