Inter defender Danilo D’Ambrosio has shared his delight after Inter managed to achieve a clean sheet in last night’s 6-0 triumph over Serie A strugglers Brescia.

The Italian, who is naturally a full back but played at centre back in the match, scored Inter’s third goal of the game on the stroke of half time. That was D’Ambrosio’s second goal in 20 appearances across all competitions to date.

“We did not concede any goals and this is the most important thing. If we want to aim for important objectives the fundamental thing is to not concede goals. Lately we have conceded many so it is positive that we didn’t today [yesterday],” he explained in an interview with sports broadcaster DAZN.

Next he spoke on his recent return to action following a series of injuries that have forced him to watch on from the sidelines as of late.

“I had several injuries even after the lockdown. With the manager and the staff we work 100% every day so there are all the prerequisites for getting into top condition. Now it is a particular situation, playing every three days in this heat is not easy but my condition improves over time.”

He was then asked about the race for the Serie A title and the current league standings which see Inter down in third place eight points adrift of league leaders and reigning champions Juventus.

“We only look at ourselves. We start from the premise of improving ourselves and today [yesterday] the important thing was to not concede. We repeated it several times both on the pitch and in the changing rooms.”

In conclusion he spoke on his desire to score goals and shared his delight at having managed to do it against La Rondinelle last night. “

“When I get to the penalty area I always try to put the ball in the back of the net. Today [yesterday] I did it and I’m very pleased.”
