Inter defender Ashley Young has revealed that he and his teammates hope to win a trophy between now and the end of the 2019/20 season.

“We hope to end the year by winning a trophy. Next year is the future and we want to win now,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia a short while ago.

“It’s better if we can do it immediately, that’s our target. We are in the running for both the Scudetto and the Europa League. We have the chance to win at least one trophy. I’m convinced we can conquer them both. There’s the possibility to win in Europe.”

He proceeded to speak on the team as a whole and shared that the team are aiming to go all the way and win the Europa League.

“We are a great team with fantastic players, ready to do our best. We get along off the pitch, that’s an aspect that increases the chances of winning. When the Europa League starts, I’m sure we will play to win.”

The former Manchester United player then went on to discuss the differences that he has noticed between playing in Italy compared to England, where he had spent the entirety of his career before the move to Inter in January.

“The Italian League is more tactical than the Premier League. It’s a fantastic league that I have followed for many years.”

Next he admitted that he did not even need to think twice about signing on the dotted line when he heard that Inter wanted to bring him to the club.

“Coming to Inter was an opportunity, as soon as I heard about the possibility, I replied: ‘Of course, where do I have to sign?’ I was looking forward to starting training with my teammates and playing games.”

In conclusion the experienced Englishman spoke briefly on Inter manager Antonio Conte and what he is like.

“He’s a coach with a lot of quality and passion for football, you see him on the sidelines.”
