Former Roma and Hellas Verona defender Thomas Berthold discussed new Inter right back Achraf Hakimi and the Nerazzurri’s interest in Bayern Munich left back David Alaba in an interview on the TV show ‘Taca La Marca’, hosted by Italian broadcaster Radio Musica Television earlier today.
“He’s a great addition to Inter, he’s a very fast player with important physical skills. In the world cup and in international competitions I have seen few really good players in this role, both left and right, so the Nerazzurri have made a great signing.”
Berthold then touched on the 28-year-old Alaba, whose entourage met the Nerazzurri’s management twice before the Coronavirus lockdown.
“I don’t know about Inter’s interest, it seems that Guardiola appreciates the player. Alaba was born to be a left full-back but he also can play in a central position.”
Inter signed Hakimi for a price of €40 million and €5 million in add-ons from Real Madrid earlier this week. The 21-year-old Moroccan right back has impressed this season on loan with Borussia Dortmund and his performances were good enough to convince the Milanese club to invest heavily into him.
Inter are looking to strengthen both the left and right wing back roles, which is why the Nerazzurri are also interested in Alaba, whose contract expires with Bayern Munich at the end of next season. Talks are currently ongoing.
