Inter linked striker Edinson Cavani is close to joining Roma and will sign for the Giallorossi next week, according to a report from Uruguayan media outlet Sport 890’s journalist Sebas Giovanelli on Twitter yesterday evening.

The report details how the 33-year-old Uruguayan striker is currently a free agent, after his contract expired with Paris Saint-Germain earlier this week.

The player didn’t sign a short-term extension with the Ligue outfit and so will not finish the season with the French champions. Whilst he is still considering what to do, it’s likely that on Tuesday or Wednesday next week he will sign for Roma, according to Givanelli.

“While Edinson Cavani reflects and discusses the options with his agent Fernando Guglielmone, the international investment company represented in Uruguay by Gaston Fernandez will close the deal with Roma on Tuesday or Wednesday” Giovanelli’s tweet read in full.

Cavani made 22 appearances across all competitions this season for Paris Saint-Germain, for a total of 1096 minutes. In that time, he has scored seven goals and provided three assists. He has been linked with a move to Inter for some time now, but the Nerazzurri are not keen to pay such high wages to a 33-year-old, who has little resale value.
