Inter right back Achraf Hakimi’s agent Alejandro Camano discussed the 21-year-old Moroccan’s transfer from Real Madrid to the Nerazzurri in an interview with Moroccan media outlet Almountakhab.com earlier today, as reported by PassioneInter.

“Zidane is the reason for Hakimi’s transfer to Inter. I don’t think a return of Hakimi to Real would be appropriate, given the presence of a player like Carvajal, and I’m sure that Hakimi’s future will be bright after taking this step forward.”

Camano then touched on why Hakimi decided to join Inter and how important coach Antonio Conte was in convincing the player.

“Inter coach Antonio Conte was always in touch with Hakimi and talked to him about the club’s future project, so we decided to move to Inter. I believe that when a high-value coach like Conte calls you and insists on contacting you, that’s the proof he wants you.”

Hakimi signed for Inter from Real Madrid earlier this week in a deal worth €40 million plus €5 million in add-ons, after impressing this season whilst on loan with Borussia Dortmund.

The 21-year-old Moroccan right back made 45 appearances across all competitions for the German club, for a total of 3571 minutes. In that time, he scored nine goals and provided ten assists.

Coach Antonio Conte has been keen to strengthen the squad this summer, building on the foundations that he has laid this season. The club are now looking to sign a new left back to strengthen their left wing back position, with Chelsea’s Emerson Palmieri the favourite.
