Inter defender Stefan de Vrij discussed the Nerazzurri’s tough 2-1 loss at home to Bologna earlier today in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV immediately after the game.

“We missed so much today. We took the lead, then 11 against 10, and we still couldn’t win. We are very disappointed. Now, we have no choice but to move forward. Now it’s gone, it hurts a lot, but the only way is to go on and think about the next game.”

The 28-year-old Dutchman then discussed the team’s formation change from a 3-5-2 to a 3-4-1-2, slotting Danish midfielder Christian Eriksen behind the attacking duo.

“Now we’re playing with a trequartista, something’s changed, we’re also creating chances.”

De Vrij, who is contracted to the Nerazzurri until 2023, played the full 90 minutes against the Rossoblu earlier today. The 28-year-old Dutchman has made 35 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 2983 minutes. In that time, he has scored three goals and provided four assists.

Inter have struggled to maintain consistency since the restart of the Serie A season, starting with a disappointing loss against Napoli in the Coppa Italia semi-final before bouncing back with a win against Sampdoria. Since that game, Inter have won twice, drawn once and lost once.
