Red Star Belgrade coach and former Inter midfielder Dejan Stankovic discussed the Nerazzurri’s league clash against Bologna later this afternoon in an interview published yesterday by Italian newspaper Corriere di Bologna, as reported by FcInterNews.

“Inter-Bologna? I’m not rooting for anyone. I played at Inter for ten years and I’ll never stop thanking the club for everything they gave me. On the other hand, with Bologna there will be my friend Sinisa Mihajlovic.”

The 41-year-old Serbian then discussed his relationship with the Bologna coach, who previously played for Inter, Lazio and Sampdoria.

“I love him, I love him more than anything in the world. He was my guide in everything, maybe only someone like him could face what happened to him in this way. I’m happy to see him back on the bench doing what he loves most.”

Mihajlovic publicly announced that he was diagnosed with leukemia last year, and the Rossoblu gave the 51-year-old their full support, keeping him on as coach.

Bologna are currently 11th in Serie A after 29 games, with a record of ten wins, eight draws and 11 losses, sitting on 38 points. A win against the Nerazzurri could see the club rise as high as 9th in the league table.

Inter are currently 3rd in the league table after 29 games, four points behind second place Lazio and eight points behind rivals Juventus. The Nerazzurri still have the chance to compete for the league title, but cannot afford to drop any more points in the remaining games of the season.
