Former Inter forward Julio Cruz discussed if he prefers Nerazzurri striker Lautaro Martinez or Romelu Lukaku earlier today in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV aired yesterday afternoon.

“They are both very strong. I like Romelu very much, he plays for the team and he knows how to find goals as a striker. Lautaro is a guy who is growing and for me he still has room for improvement. The affection of his team-mates and fans can help him.”

Belgian striker Romelu Lukaku scored the Nerazzurri’s only goal in their disappointing 2-1 loss to Bologna yesterday. The 27-year-old Belgian has made 41 appearances across all competitions so far this season, for a total of 3376 minutes.

In that time, he has scored 26 goals and provided five assists, being only one goal behind his personal goal scoring record in a single season.

The 22-year-old Lautaro, on the other hand, is currently experiencing a dip in form after Barcelona’s much publicized courtship of the Argentine striker.

The Blaugrana are keen to sign the player but cannot afford to pay his €111 million release clause, and so are planning to sign him later in the summer. Lautaro has made 37 appearances across all competitions, scoring 17 goals and providing five assists.
