Barcelona could sign Inter striker Lautaro Martinez at the end of August, according to a report from Spanish media outlet Marca earlier today.

The Catalan side have already reached a verbal agreement with Inter regarding the formula, €70 million in cash and two players in exchange for Lautaro, at a total value of €120 million, €9 million higher than the 22-year-old’s old release clause.

The report details how the 22-year-old Argentine striker’s €111 million release clause expired earlier this week, which some thought may force the Blaugrana to look elsewhere.

Instead, the Catalan side are confident of a deal and believe they are only a ‘yes’ away from finalizing a potential deal with Lautaro, leaving the club to negotiate with Inter.

Barcelona were happy to let the release clause expire so they could sort out their budget, especially important for UEFA Financial Fair Play purposes, the report continues.

Lautaro is currently experiencing a period of poor form, with some suggesting it’s due to the interest of Barcelona.
