Inter and Barcelona have a gentleman’s agreement to hold further talks over Lautaro Martinez in August according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Negotiations between the clubs have been stalled for several weeks but they are not dead and buried. The reason for this is because of the gentleman’s agreement, which will see them negotiate again once the season is over.

The current status of negotiations is helpful to Barcelona with the report explaining that until negotiations take place again, they have time to raise the appropriate funds to sign the 22-year-old.

All along Barcelona have been reluctant to meet Inter’s demands for the Argentine. Inter wanted his €111 million release clause paid but that clause has since expired and Barcelona were also reluctant to meet Inter’s demands of €90 million plus Junior Firpo too.

This season Lautaro has made 38 appearances across all competitions to date, in which he has scored 17 goals and provided five assists for his teammates.
