Inter central defender Alessandro Bastoni has revealed that there is a lot more peace around the club following the 3-1 win over Torino on Monday night.

Prior to the win Inter had failed to win in their two previous matches and this led to a lot of criticsm and also a lot of speculation regarding Inter manager Antonio Conte’s future in charge of the side.

“The three points against Torino last night mean a lot. Winning breeds winning and things at Appiano are certainly more peaceful now. In the last few games we’ve had some episodes go against us, but luckily it went well yesterday,” Bastoni explained in an interview with Inter’s official club broadcaster Inter TV earlier on today.

The Italian youth national team defender has had his first team breakthrough at the Nerazzurri and proceeded to admit that not even he expected to play as much as he has during this campaign.

“My goal for this season was to show myself off and play as much as possible. Not even with the most optimistic expectations did I think that I would have had such a season.

“In our group there is healthy competition for places and this is good. We are a very united dressing room. Winning makes you feel good mentally and now we must continue like this.”

The highly rated 21-year-old, who joined the club in 2017 from Atalanta and is contracted to the end of the 2022/23 season, has made 24 appearances across all competitions to date. During his time on the park, which totals just under 1900 minutes, he has scored two goals.
