Diego Godin has set his sights on doing something ‘important’ with Inter following the Nerazzurri’s 3-1 triumph over Torino at San Siro on Monday night.

The Uruguayan central defender scored his first goal for the club as he scored Inter’s go-ahead goal shortly after the second half began and began by speaking on the need to win in any way possible during a difficult moment like Inter have been having.

“When there is a moment of difficulty, it’s important to win any way we can. Today, we won well. Although we conceded an unexpected goal, we deserved the win,” he explained in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia following the full time whistle.

He was then asked if he and teammates have any regrets when it comes to the points dropped prior to tonight’s win.

“We won’t look back with any regrets. Instead, we’ll learn from it and engage in some healthy self-criticism.”

Next he was asked what Inter need to do in the remainder of the season in order for it to be classed as a good season.

“We have to think about winning the next game, then let’s see where we get. We know that getting close to Juventus is difficult, but we must think game by game and then we’ll see.”

He proceeded to be asked whether fans are now seeing him at his best.

“Yes, from game to game I am picking up minutes and finding my best form. I want to help the team.”

In conclusion he was asked if he hopes to be able to make a big impact next season and shared a goal that he has.

“I want to help the team on and off the pitch. In my career I have always shown a winning mentality, I want to be positive and work hard. I want to do something important at Inter.”
