Inter should have had a penalty awarded against them in last night’s 3-1 win over Torino according to a report in today’s print edition of Italian daily newspaper Corriere dello Sport.

In the 37th minute of the first half, Torino players made strong calls for a penalty after the ball came off of Inter central defender Alessandro Bastoni’s arm, after he leaned toward the ball.

Referee Davide Massa waved calls away and did not even review the action on the pitch side monitor but the report suggests that those in charge of VAR could perhaps have told Massa that the ball came off of Bastoni’s chest or his shoulder opposed to his arm, hence why the referee did not review things.

Had Torino gotten the penalty and scored, it would undoubtedly have turned into a different game as they would have went 2-0 up. They however never got the penalty and within 15 minutes of the second half, Inter put themselves 3-1 ahead.
