Veteran Inter central midfielder Borja Valero has stressed that he feels he is still up to the task of being able to play for Inter.

The Spaniard, who has been with the club since 2017, found playing time very hard to come by earlier on in the season but has found his playing time increase since the 2019/20 season resumed post-lockdown.

“It was clear right away, but I’m stubborn. I didn’t want to give up, I was patient, I trained well and I am still up to Inter,” he explained in an interview with the online edition of Italian daily newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport.

Valero’s contract with the club is due to expire at the end of the season but a recent report has suggested that the club are considering offering him a new deal. One of the main reasons for this is because Inter manager Antonio Conte has been impressed with the professionalism he has shown.

This season the former West Bromwich Albion player has made 22 appearances across all competitions to date and in his time on the pitch he has scored three goals.
