Manchester City have identified Inter’s Lautaro Martinez as Sergio Aguero’s potential successor at the club according to a report from British broadcaster Sky Sports.

Whilst Lautaro has been strongly linked with Barcelona for some time, the Premier League side are also admirers of him and think he could be a potential long-term replacement for compatriot Sergio Aguero, whose contract at the Etihad Stadium expires at the end of next season.

The report goes on to explain that City are in a better position than Barcelona to be able to activate Lautaro’s €111 million release clause.

The highly rated 22-year-old has been with Inter since the Summer of 2018 and has a contract with the club until the end of the 2022/23 season.

This season the Argentine national team player has made 39 appearances across all competitions to date. In just under 3000 minutes on the field, Lautaro has scored 18 goals and provided six assists for his teammates.
