Inter manager Antonio Conte has shared his delight following the 4-0 win over SPAL but prior to doing that he looked ahead to Inter’s next Serie A match which comes away to Italian capital city club Roma this coming weekend.
“Roma are an excellent team and we will have less time to recover, but we will have enthusiasm and desire. I hope to recover some players to make up for those who have been pulling the cart for a long time,” he explained to the gathered media in his post-match press conference at the Stadio Paolo Mazza.
The former Italian national team manager, who took charge of Inter this past Summer, was then asked if he was satisfied with what youngsters Sebastiano Esposito and Lorenzo Pirola showed when they came on.
“Yes, because these games are easy only on paper. We have lost points in a naive way in the past but today we had n important chance to get closer to qualifying for the Champions League and I think this is an excellent result.
“Today we took advantage of this chance with the right desire and courage, we must continue on this path knowing that hard work pays off.”
In conclusion Conte, who is contracted to Inter until the end of the 2021/22 season, was asked about Alexis Sanchez, who has been the team’s best performer since the 2019/20 Serie A season got back underway last month.
Sanchez is currently on loan at Inter from Manchester United and there has been no shortage of speculation regarding his future in the media as of late.
“We knew very well that Sanchez had not been very good for two years at Manchester United, he was a little lost.
“He came here and got himself involved, he had bad luck as he injured his ankle but luckily there was Lautaro and Lukaku.
“He is now well, he is taking more and more control and I am starting to see the real Sanchez. He must continue like this, then we will see what the future holds. Today we must focus on the present and do our best.”
