Inter coach Antonio Conte discussed tomorrow evening’s Serie A clash against Roma in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV earlier today.

“We’re talking about a well-equipped team, they have excellent players and a good coach. A game of high difficulty for us that comes after playing two days ago against SPAL.

“So, one trip and one day less to recover. On our side there’s positive enthusiasm, we see the results of the work that has been done and the guys are beginning to be appreciated. Recently, and surprisingly, the team has been mistreated a lot.”

The former Chelsea and Juventus coach spoke about the various injuries that have affected his squad this season, including to players like Stefano Sensi and Matias Vecino.

“There’s a contingency of injured players we’ve had since the start of the season. We’ve had Sanchez injured for four or five months. In the midfield it’s been a troubled year because of a few repeated injuries, for example Sensi, we had him for a very short time.

“I’m also thinking of the injuries suffered by Gagliardini and Barella. Vecino always has the knee injury. That hurt us and made me suffer, but we can see that the glass is half full and whoever is playing has given important answers. I’m talking about Gagliardini, Brozovic, Borja Valero, we’re integrating Eriksen, I’m thinking positive things.”

Finally, Conte spoke about Roma’s tactical system and their various players.

“They’ve changed their tactical system, they’re also using a 3-man defense and two trequartista’s behind Dzeko, he’s a reference point, as is Mkhitaryan who has rediscovered his glory days.

“Pellegrini is doing well, they have Spinazzola and Zappacosta, they are a good team, Veretout and Diawara give quality and quantity. They too were set to have an important season, you have to be careful.”

Inter are currently second in the league table after 33 games, sitting six points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus. Tomorrow evening’s league game between the Nerazzurri and Giallorossi is vital for the Milanese club as they look to close the gap with Juventus and potentially fight for the league title this season.

Should Inter beat Roma and Lazio beat the Bianconeri on Monday night, then Inter would be only three points behind the Turin based club. Roma are fifth and have won their last three league games, although they lost the three before that.
