Inter are serious about signing Roma striker Edin Dzeko, finally giving coach Antonio Conte a player he’s wanted for over a year, according to a report from Italian broadcaster Sport Mediaset earlier today.
The report details how the 34-year-old Bosnian forward, who is contracted to the Giallorossi until 2022, is a classic number 9, who perfectly fits what Conte wants in his tactical system. The 50-year-old Italian tactician wanted to sign him last summer but the Roman club wanted €20 million for the former Manchester City striker, forcing Inter to look elsewhere.
Inter may look to sign the player this summer as well, the report continues, although this time conditions are more favourable. Roma are currently experiencing financial difficulties and it seems as if they’ll fail to qualify for the Champions League for the second consecutive year, meaning that Dzeko’s €7.5 million a season salary may prove too costly for the club, especially considering that there are two more years remaining on that deal.
