Inter captain Samir Handanovic discussed the Nerazzurri’s challenge against Roma tonight and the fact that the Milanese club have one of the strongest defenses in the league in an interview with Italian broadcaster InterTV ahead of the game.
“We’re used to playing every three days between the league and playing in Europe, even though this is not normal for anyone. We don’t get upset and cry over it, we know what’s ahead. We’re ready.
“Roma are on three wins in a row, the key will be to do what we always do, impose our game and play to win.”
The Slovenian goalkeeper then discussed how the team can still improve their defense, despite the fact that they’re one of the strongest in the league this season.
“We’re not at the end of the season yet, we’ll do the maths when the season is over. I can say that we can improve even more.”
Moments later, Handanovic also discussed the challenge against Roma and the club’s defense in an interview with Italian broadcaster Sky Sports Italia.
“It will be an open match, both teams will try to win it. We have the best defense in the league but that doesn’t mean anything, in five games the situation can change. For sure we can still improve.”
The Nerazzurri captain then discussed the club’s transfer dealings and if he’s optimistic about tonight.
“It’s better to ask the management about transfers and signings, they are more experienced with those things. We’re building, let’s see what happens. Optimistic about tonight? Always.”
Inter are currently third in the league table after 33 games, sitting six points behind rivals and league leaders Juventus. The Nerazzurri have the chance to close the gap to only three points this weekend, if they beat Roma tonight and the Bianconeri lose to Lazio tomorrow evening.
The game is important for the Biancocelesti, as a win will guarantee them a spot in next season’s Champions League, and so it will be a tough test for the Turin based club. Atalanta are tied with the Nerazzurri on 71 points, but have played an extra game.
