Inter coach Antonio Conte is hoping to reinvest the money earned from selling Lautaro Martinez to Barcelona into signing Napoli midfielder Fabian Ruiz, according to a report from Spanish media outlet Don Balon.

The report details how the Inter coach hasn’t been fully happy with his midfield since his arrival a year ago and so is looking to strengthen the department this summer.

With Spaniard Borja Valero set to leave this summer, Conte needs a player capable of maintaining balance in midfield and managing the ball.

Inter, like Real Madrid and Barcelona, will all have to negotiate with Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis, a famously difficult task, the report continues.

The Partenopei are planning to offer the 24-year-old Spanish midfielder a new contract lasting until end of June 2025, with wages equal to captain Lorenzo Insigne. Ruiz has scored three goals and provided five assists in 41 games this season, across all competitions.
