A report from today’s paper edition of the Milano based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport has drawn an interesting parallel involving coach Antonio Conte and a piece of Inter history.
The report details how, 18 years ago, a Juventus squad containing Conte were six points behind Inter in the league table, with five games to go. In the fifth last game the Nerazzurri lost at home to Atalanta whilst the Bianconeri won away in Perugia, resulting in the gap closing by three points. Juventus would go on to win that season, finishing two points ahead of Inter.
The Nerazzurri hope that a piece of history will be repeated, the report continues, in the other favour, with the Milanese club winning to close the gap to only three points with four games remaining. Conte is famous for having won the league titles with Juventus and Chelsea in his first season in charge and may still repeat that feat with Inter this season.
