River Plate central defender Lucas Martinez Quarta has revealed that he is proud to have been linked to the clubs that he has been in recent weeks and month.

The highly rated Argentine defender has drawn links to Inter, Valencia and Championship champions Leeds United in recent weeks and months.

“Every players dreams of playing in Europe and reaching the national team. It would be nice for me to make this jump. I am calm and my agent is taking care of things. All I have to do is train and prepare for what comes here or elsewhere,” the 24-year-old remarked in an interview with Spanish news outlet Marca.

He proceeded to discuss the interest shown in him.

“I have read these rumours and I am proud that these teams are watching me. I spoke to my agent who told me that he would only notify me in case of concrete offers.”

In conclusion he admitted he has to remain calm and wait whilst clubs suss out their budgets for the coming season.

“The reality is that today, due to the pandemic, nothing will happen until the various clubs know their budgets. I am calm and will wait.

“If an offer arrives, my agent will tell me and we will analyse it. I am proud that teams with such history have noticed me. It is a dream for me to play in Europe, and obviously I will realise it if God wants me to.”

The Argentine national team player is a product of River Plate’s famed academy set-up which has produced the likes of Gonzalo Higuain, Javier Mascherano and Pablo Aimar among many other household names.

Martinez Quarta, who is under contract until the end of June 2021, has made 20 appearances across all competitions to date. During his time on the park he has provided a single assist.
